The Blog

While it might sound similar to that cheesy 1950’s alien movie, a blog—I assure you—has no amoeba-like form. A blog is a new type of communication that takes place on a collected network called the internet. The author of the blog will typically make frequent postings concerning a specific topic. The form of these posts can include, but are not limited to, text, video, audio and images.

Once posted, the viewers of the blog can express their opinions by replying to the author. The commentary left by the viewers creates an interactive tango between the viewing community.

The uniqueness of a blog is something special. The author has unlimited voice in expressing his/her ideas; something you won’t find reading the New York Times. From personal experience, the energy created from knowing this reflects in the quality of your postings. This personal backing and diaryesk-style posting is what draws viewers to the blog.

The most challenging component of blogging is starting. I can’t recall how many times I have come across a great idea to blog about, but just never started. To quote Dawson Trotman, “The greatest amount of wasted time is the time not getting started.”

Blogs can be highly rewarding and if you are passionate enough about something, then give blogging a try!
